The sixth profession in Guild Wars 2 is the most unique one so far.
"A master of stealth and surprise, the thief is deadly in single combat - particularly when catching enemies off guard. Thieves compensate for their relatively low armor and health by being quick and evasive. They can move through the shadows, vanish into thin air, or steal items from their opponents and use them as weapons. Enemies should watch their backs, or the thief will watch it for them." (taken from Guild Wars 2 official website)
The thief skills shown in the video: Steal, Shadow Shot, Scorpion Wire, Leaping Death Blossom and Cluster Shot.
The thief plays like no other professions in Guild Wars 2. They have Initiative, something like a stamina gauge that depletes every time a skill is used, with stronger skills using more Initiative than weaker ones. Every thief has a maximum of ten Initiative they can spend on their skills and each Initiative takes one second to replenish.
A thief can use all sorts of weapons and the skills you have depend on what weapons you currently have equipped. For example, the set of skills you have when you're using daggers is different from the set of skills you get when you switch to using guns. But of course, the most important thing for a Thief is the ability to steal. In Guild Wars 2, thieves can steal items from their opponents (monsters and humans alike) and use the stolen goods to their advantage in battle.
I'm only giving a short summary of the Thief here so I highly recommend you to go to the official Guild Wars 2 website and read about the profession in greater detail there.
ArenaNet also attended PAX East a couple of weeks back and showed everyone a new Guild Wars 2 demo featuring the Guardian and the Thief professions.
Also, why not hear what else they had to say about the game at their discussion panel.
